Excillum, the global leader in extreme brightness microfocus and nanofocus X-ray sources, and Chugai Technos, a pioneer in industrial X-ray inspection solutions, are proud to announce a strategic partnership to introduce advanced X-ray battery inspection systems to the Japanese market.
- Proven in industrial CT systems across Europe, North America and Asia, the Excillum MetalJet X-ray source will be integrated into Chugai Technos’ advanced inspection platforms.
- The high-speed, high-resolution 3D X-ray battery inspection system will help Japanese manufacturers improve yield, reliability and safety.
- Demonstrations of the new system are planned to commence in Japan in Q2 2026.
Japan, a global top three lithium-ion battery manufacturing country, is expanding domestic capacity for electric vehicles and energy storage. This partnership aims to support this growth with fast, reliable 3D X-ray inspection.
“High-speed 3D CT for batteries is no longer a promise, it is running in systems today,” says David Lindblom, CEO of Excillum. “Together with Chugai Technos we can bring that level of inspection performance to Japanese manufacturers, supported by a partner that has been trusted for decades in some of the most demanding inspection tasks in Japan.”
Chugai Technos has more than 70 years experience of safety-critical inspection in industrial plants, social infrastructure and nuclear facilities, as well as in designing and manufacturing X-ray inspection equipment and robots for harsh environments.
“We have a long history of delivering cutting-edge inspection solutions to Japanese manufacturers,” says Satoshi Fukuma, President and Representative Director of Chugai Technos. “By integrating Excillum’s MetalJet F source into our X-ray and robotics platforms, we can offer our customers a new option: 3D insight into the inside of their cells at production speed, supported locally in Japan.”
